Shropshire Telford & Wrekin Formulary – especially on crushing Melatonin mr tablets

Community paediatricians working for Shropshire Community Health are reporting back to their pharmacy teams that community pharmacists are telling patients not to crush melatonin MR tablets; however, the STW Formulary advice – agreed across all stakeholders in the area – DOES support the crushing of melatonin MR preparations, and includes specific advice on how to do this safely.

We would remind contractors of the value of being aware of the information and resources included in the STW Formulary, and to be aware of, and share this with all of your teams, including locum and peripatetic professional staff.
